That’s why when this Bright Blue C5 Corvette rolled into the shop, we knew it deserved more than just a basic upgrade. It needed a complete audio transformation. The result? A system that doesn’t just sound incredible—it redefines what in-car audio can be.

🛠️ Starting Fresh: Gutting the Old System

Before we could begin, we had to completely remove the previous audio attempt. It wasn’t just underwhelming—it was holding the car back. With the Corvette returned to a factory-like condition, we laid the foundation for a system worthy of its performance pedigree.

⚡ Powering Performance: Amplifier & Wiring

The C5 Corvette’s composite body presents unique challenges, especially with limited electrical returns. To ensure clean and reliable power, we installed dedicated 4-gauge power and ground wires. These feed into a Sony Hi-Resolution multi-channel amplifier, delivering crystal-clear sound with the muscle to match.

📱 Modern Convenience: Touchscreen & Camera

In the dash, we installed a Sony 4000 touchscreen CarPlay receiver. This unit connects your phone seamlessly, offering intuitive control, navigation, and media access. It also supports a backup camera, adding a layer of safety to the sleek sports car. To finish the look, we added a VetteNuts radio bezel—a perfect OEM-style match that blends beautifully with the factory dash.

🔇 Quiet Power: Door Treatment & Speakers

We treated the doors with Sound Shield triple-layer damping material, reducing unwanted vibrations and road noise. Custom speaker mounting panels were built with hidden damping and gasket material to ensure a tight, vibration-free seal. Mounted to these panels are Sony GS 6.5” component speakers, featuring separate tweeters and crossovers. Every wire was routed with care, allowing for easy servicing down the road.

🔊 Bass That Doesn’t Budge: Subwoofer Safety

In the rear, we placed a Sony 12” subwoofer enclosure—but not without safety in mind. To prevent movement during a collision, we epoxied ¼”-20 machine-threaded receptacles into the trunk body. These anchor the sub securely with safety bolts, ensuring it stays put no matter what.
