Check out this Beautiful Bright Blue C5 Corvette that was in the shop for an audio do over!
With the vehicle returned to factory like condition I begin my installation process. Since the Corvette is a composite vehicle with limited electrical returns a pair of dedicated 4G power and ground wires supply the Sony Hi-Resolution multi channel amplifier.
In the dash a Sony 4000 touchscreen CarPlay receiver connects your phone to the sound system for the ultimate in driving convenience along with a back up camera for safety. The finishing touch includes a new radio bezel by VetteNuts that matches the OEM dash perfectly.
Turning to the doors I address the most important parts with a layer of Sound Shield triple layer damping material. Next up are the speaker mounting panels. Hidden on the backside is more damping material along with speaker gasket material that eliminates vibrations and seals the panel to the door when all six screws are used to attach it. Mounted to these are panels are the new Sony GS 6.5” component (separate tweeter and crossover) speakers. Care is taken with the wiring of both speakers allowing ease of servicing if required.
In the rear of the vehicle an enclosure with a Sony 12” subwoofer is placed. With safety and performance in mind (no one wants to get hit in the head by a flying heavy sub box) I epoxy a pair 1/4”-20 machine threaded receptacles into the body of the trunk area. Look closely and you just barely see the safety bolts that prevents movement and/or trajectory of the subwoofer in a collision.
