I have always believed that one of the best back up warning systems is a Reverse Obstacle Sensing System.  These systems turn on when you engage reverse gear in your car.

Without having  to view the rear of the vehicle this system automatically detects obstacles behind your car and alerts you to them with an audible sound.  This upgraded system includes a display with detection for each sensor and displays the warning object in feet.
