Blossom Audio Systems, Porsche 996 build.

Wednesday, April 16th, 2025

Under the bonnet of this 996 is where the OEM amplifier is located. Maintaining vehicle integrity is a priority in ALL of my audio designs. To mount the new amplifier I designed and built a multi layered ABS composite panel that utilizes the OEM mounting system and hardware. The lightweight panel and muswayusa Five.100+ amplifier look somehow perfectly factory while adding a touch of high-end class and prestige.

After removing a previous radio installation I was left with no choice but to repair and rewire the poorly done wiring before installing a new Sony 4000 series CarPlay touchscreen receiver. The easy to use tactile buttons for volume and track control allow you to safely keep your eyes on the road while cranking up your tunes!

Fitting a 6” mid-bass driver into a very technical and tight OEM 5.25” location is no easy task. Porsche did NOT leave any room for improvement plus the OEM speaker enclosure is designed with multiple parts to allow servicing the door if required.

My solution allowed me to install an audiofrogusa 6” GS speaker in the OEM location while maintaining the integrity and serviceability of the factory door. Utilizing all of the factory screw locations and relocating the OEM speaker plug allows servicing if required.

The front dash speakers on this 996 are an integrated part of the OEM mounting design. This required me to cut apart the speakers so I could use the factory attachment location and hardware which is required to properly reinstall the speakers into the vehicle. A half inch composite ring mounts the audiofrogusa 2.5” GS speakers perfectly in the OEM location while reusing the speaker plugs was the perfect final touch.

I finished the build and install of a custom vented subwoofer enclosure with an audiofrogusa GS8ND2. This 8” speaker tucks away perfectly behind the rear seats and looks awesome at the same time!!!

Blossom Audio Systems, bringing it ALL together.

A boutique build featuring high end audio equipment by Musway USA, audiofrogusa, and Sony Car Audio USA.

At the center of this design is a Musway five.100+ amplifier and a Sony 4000 touchscreen receiver while in the corners are Audiofrog GS speakers.

Amplifier reference gains on all channels are set with sine waves, and all crossover settings are set with an SMD crossover calibration tool. No guessing here.

With the amplifier settings calibrated I turn my attention to the receiver and set the time delays and more crossovers for all five speakers. Then I place the microphone in the driver seated location and EQ accordingly with pink noise tracks, then listen by ear, and repeat until my level of sound quality has been achieved.

This system has a three dimensional sound stage along with fantastic imaging! Keep your eyes open for this amazing 996 driving the Valley and Pocono roads this summer.
